Tough U-Guard Stainless

In metallurgy, stainless steel is defined as a steel alloy with a minimum of 10% chromium content by mass. Stainless steel does not stain, corrode or rust as easily as ordinary steel. It is also called corrosion resistant steel when the alloy type and grade are not detailed, particularly in the aviation industry. There are different grades and surface finishes of stainless steel to suit the environment to which the material will be subjected in its lifetime.
Type 304 is the alloy type U-Guard uses in all of their stainless steel products.

Type 304 stainless steel is a T 300 Series Stainless Steel austenitic. It has a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, combined with a maximum of 0.08% carbon. It is defined as a Chromium-Nickel austenitic alloy.

• Forming and welding properties
• Corrosion/ oxidation resistance thanks to the chromium content
• Deep drawing quality
• Excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures which are defined as very low temperatures
• Low temperature properties responding well to hardening by cold working
